A new leaflet is available promoting the key messages of the
NCB evaluation of the Early Learning Partnerships Project: Strand
3.
NCB was the lead partner in Strand 3 -
workforce development: ‘upskilling the workforce to build effective
partnerships with parents to support their involvement in their
child’s early learning’. The central element of which was a
large-scale rollout of PEAL but in addition the programme supported
15 sub-contracted organisations delivering additional training on
parental support for young children’s learning and
provided the potential for accreditation for the training.
The evaluation identified a ‘huge appetite
within the early years workforce for training in engaging parents’
and that ‘much of the training delivered within Strand 3 has the
potential to positively influence practitioner-parents relations
within a short timescale’.
The leaflet includes: direct feedback from
learners, how learners are implementing their learning back in
their settings, what the impact has been on practitioners, what the
impact has been on settings as a whole and what the impact has been
on children and families. The leaflet draws five useful conclusions
about the value of this type of training, for practitioners,
children and families.
