Children's Centres Conference coming up
3 December 2007
Capita’s 5th National Children's Centres Conference will take
place in London on Monday 28 January 2008. Details of how to attend
are below. There is also an extra half-day workshop taking place on
Tuesday 29 January - Developing financially sustainable children's
centres.
Children's Centre Conference
Recent criticism over Sure Start not meeting its goals has led to
much publicity and increasing public scrutiny of the scheme. Now
more than ever is the time to question whether our centres are
doing enough to tackle poverty, provide quality services and meet
the needs of the most vulnerable. With a mix of strategic sessions
and innovative case studies, this conference provides a neutral
forum for policy makers and practitioners who are developing and
delivering children’s centres, to share their experiences and learn
from best practice.
This timely conference covers the crucial areas needing to be
addressed, including:
- Future funding to enable sustainable
provision
- Tackling poverty
- Piloting the Early Years Foundation
Stage
- Engaging ethnic minority communities
- Working with the voluntary sector
- Developing the skills of parents
- Partnership working with health services
