The successful partnership between NCB’s
Parents Early Years and Learning Project (PEAL) team and the
Pre-school Learning Alliance has created a new award recognised by
City & Guilds. The new level 3 Work with Parents award
recognises candidates that deliver frontline services to parents or
carers in children’s centres or extended schools.
On 25 September, PEAL will be celebrating the achievement of the
first group of successful candidates to complete the award’s 16th
unit which is entitled, “Working with parents to engage them in
their children’s early learning.”
The lunchtime celebration will take place at the Dali Universe
exhibition in London and will include a discussion with
participants and assessors to review how Unit 16 supported learning
and contributed to best practice. The afternoon will conclude with
an awards ceremony during which the successful candidates will
receive their certificates.
“This event further highlights the value of encouraging and
developing parental involvement in children's early learning,” said
Keith Phillips of the PEAL Project. “And we are delighted to
welcome recipients from across the country to celebrate their
achievements.”
Qualifications like Work with Parents are aimed to equip those
individuals working with parents with the essential skills and
knowledge required to support parents in their parenting role. PEAL
hopes to build further on the success of this training that has
already been rolled out to over 5,000 practitioners across
England.
